Yesterday was a great day for mowing grass at the church. It was our team's turn so I headed out early before it got to terribly hot. I lost my mp3 player sometime over the past few months (no worries, I am pretty sure that Santa will be bringing one for Christmas this year. I have been especially good ;) ) I also forgot my cell phone at home. I was "disconnected." So for 2 and a half hours I spent time alone on a mower. This turned out to be a great time of prayer with the Lord.
It was also an important reminder that we all need to take regular time to be alone and disconnnected so that we can connect with the One. With our busy lives it is hard to find just a few minutes that are not scheduled or spoken for by someone, something, some activity. However, in order to keep balance and perspective, it is essential that we on a daily basis take time to disconnect from this world. This is the only way that we can really connect with it. Remember Jesus' words, "Without me you can do nothing." The important thing to remember is that as we disconnect form this world and think we are all alone, with God in our lives, we are really never alone.
